Mediterranean rocky benthic communities face to global change

Mikel Zabala

Mikel Zabala Limousin is a professor at the University of Barcelona’s Department of Ecology. Mikel was the director or tutor of most of the group members’ theses. He initially focused on bryozoan taxonomy, but has always been involved in marine conservation issues, and mainly the biological monitoring of the Medes Islands Protected Area, of which he was the coordinator. He has participated in fish, lobster, urchin and gorgonian surveys in several Spanish and French marine reserves, and also in the study of impacts on benthic communities that are mainly formed by long-lived species.
